Website design isn’t going anywhere. It’s been around since Tim Berners-Lee created the first website in 1989 and it isn’t going anywhere in the future, either. In fact, if anything, website design is only becoming more important and powerful as time goes on and technology changes the way we live our lives. In this article we will take a look at what Web Design is like in the future and how Marketers can take advantage of it to achieve better results than ever before!
Trends in UX/UI Design
The field is expanding rapidly and will continue to do so in coming years, growing from 352,000 jobs worldwide in 2017 (not including self-employed) up to 394,000 by 2022. In fact, UX/UI design jobs are expected to grow twice as fast as average for all occupations. In some markets—such as Finland and Ireland—UX/UI design is a hot commodity.
What Future-Proof Means for Marketers
While it can be hard to predict where technology is headed, there are many trends that indicate where e-commerce websites may be in five years. After all, in today’s digital age, nothing can ever stay static for long. Just take a look at how sites like Amazon and Facebook have changed over time—they were once simple ideas that have grown into massive companies that dominate their industries.
How Do We Adapt?
Websites will have to adapt with us as technology moves forward. Take voice commands, for example. As speech recognition technology continues to advance, consumers will expect it from businesses—not just from their mobile devices but from desktop computers and other IoT devices, too. This means that website visitors may be ready for Hey Siri or Okay Google in a few years, which will no doubt require some changes on our part. How do we make sure people can use these new interfaces? How do we design websites that are accessible by both keyboard and voice? It’s hard to say exactly what lies ahead, but it’s certain that we’ll need to stay nimble if we want to stay relevant.
